A Labour of Love
The story of the Adlerhorst starts back in 1978, when my grandparents, Gerda and Hans Klimmer, built what would become the beloved guest house we now run. Before taking on this new venture, Gerda had already made a name for herself with her successful Jagerstube, a cozy, traditional restaurant where locals and visitors gathered over great food and conversation. It was there that the idea for Adlerhorst was born.
For 46 years, my Oma poured her heart into the guest house, ensuring it became a cherished home away from home for so many guests. In 2024, it was time for the next generation to take the reins - my parents, Otto and Natalie, my sister Issy, and myself.
Otto, my dad, grew up in St. Jakob, spending much of his childhood around the guest house, though his true passion has always been mountain guiding. Natalie, my mum, originally from Australia, met Otto in the '90s when she was a ski bum, and the two of them have been on this journey together ever since, travelling around North America and building a cabin, and a house in British Columbia, Canada. A long, strange trip it has been!
Issy and I were born and raised in Canada but have always felt a strong connection to Austria and Australia through our heritage. After a lot of thought and with a shared desire to bring the family together, we all decided it was time to reunite in St. Anton and step into this new chapter. By fall 2024, the Adlerhorst was officially in our hands.
Now, Otto guides visitors through the breathtaking mountains of St. Anton, while Issy works in the area too. Mum and I manage the guest house, but it’s really a family effort. Each of us pitches in wherever needed, and we’re excited to blend Canadian hospitality with Aussie charm in this special place. We truly hope every guest feels as at home here as we do running this labor of love.
